Orange1 Basket Bassano Wins the Cívis Cup!

The Italian showdown for the 2024 Cívis Cup title saw Orange1 Basket Bassano claim a decisive victory over College Borgomanero, while USK Praha secured the third-place podium by overcoming the host team, DEAC Basketball Academy.

The tournament’s third day kicked off on Sunday morning with lower bracket placement games, where Balkan Botevgrad clinched seventh place. Audentes Tallinn had no answer for the trio of Mihail Kalinov, Kristiyan Dyalov, and Kristiyan Vasilev, who contributed 56 of the Bulgarian team’s 81 points. Kalinov (20 points, 12 assists) and Vasilev (19 points, 13 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles.

The battle for fifth place featured KK Spartak Subotica against Inter Bratislava. Although the Slovaks, led by Bruno Randuska, appeared to be in control by halftime, the Serbian team rallied after the break, seizing the victory. Ilija Durutovic tallied 23 points, Miroslav Bogdannovic added 22, and Nikola Usljerbka’s impressive 18 points and 12 rebounds earned high praise.

Unusually, the medal rounds began with the final due to technical reasons. The all-Italian clash between Orange1 Basket Bassano and College Borgomanero offered limited suspense, as Bassano took a substantial lead in the first quarter and continued to extend it. Maickol Perez (18 points), Charles Atamah (16), Giannis Odzebe (16), and Sekou Diarra (14) all scored in double figures for the dominant Bassano squad. Borgomanero’s Axel Piccirilli (22 points) and Adriano Bazan’s (17) strong efforts were insufficient to counter the well-rounded Bassano offense.

In the dunk contest, Aleksa Mucalj from KK Spartak Subotica earned 42 points from the judges, claiming the title of top dunker.
The final match for the bronze medal pitted DEAC against USK Praha. The Czech team opened strong and established a seemingly insurmountable lead, but the DEAC squad, energized by the home crowd, staged a comeback with Szafkó Márk sinking six three-pointers. However, as the game drew to a close, DEAC’s momentum waned, allowing Praha to secure victory, capitalizing on their physical advantage. Samuel Macht posted an impressive 18 points and 18 rebounds, while Jakub Soldan contributed 18 points and 15 rebounds. Lukas Demjek topped the score chart with 20 points.
The tournament organizers awarded the MVP title to Maickol Perez of the championship Bassano team. The All-Star Five featured Fekete-Gál Csongor (DEAC), Axel Piccirilli (Borgomanero), Giannis Odzebe (Bassano), Lukas Demjek, and Jakub Soldan (both from USK Praha). Varga Ferenc of DEAC took home the Best Defender award.

Congratulations
to all participants! See you in 2025!
