Hungary U14 Crowned Champions!

Péter Bazsik’s Hungary U14 squad captured the 2025 Cívis Cup title in dominant fashion, defeating Georgia’s Zaza Pachulia Basketball Academy by twenty points in Sunday’s final. The bronze medal went to BC Prievidza, while the hosts DEAC claimed fifth place after the most thrilling comeback in the tournament’s history. The Szeklerland Team also celebrated, earning their first win to secure seventh.
The final day of action in Debrecen offered plenty of drama. The battle for seventh saw Szeklerland overcome Inter Bratislava 70–58, with Sándor Oláh delivering a monster performance of 25 points and 16 rebounds to lead his side to victory. In the clash for fifth, the DEAC and MAFC squads faced off in an all-Hungarian duel. Despite trailing by as many as 25 points in the third quarter, the hosts engineered an incredible turnaround to snatch a 70–68 win — a game that will be remembered as one of the wildest in Cívis Cup history.
The bronze-medal game proved far more one-sided. Prievidza stormed out to a stunning 28–5 first quarter and never looked back, cruising past Partizan Beograd 90–44 behind a 30-point explosion from Matej Richter.
The championship clash brought together two unbeaten sides — Hungary U14 and Zaza Pachulia BA — and lived up to its billing early on. The first half was tightly contested, but after halftime, Hungary took full control, executing with pace, precision, and poise. With their teamwork and defensive intensity shining through, Bazsik’s group pulled away for an 86–66 triumph and lifted the trophy in front of an enthusiastic Debrecen crowd.
Hungary’s Bertin Konecsnyi was named Tournament MVP, also earning a spot on the All-Star Five alongside teammate Pongrác Orszlánszky, Prievidza’s duo Alex Pavlenda and Matej Richter, and Zaza’s Giorgi Tskvitaia. Richter received an additional honor as the Best Defensive Player of the event.
